I’ve been a ham and a gun enthusiast for about as long. Bumping on 40 years. Gun guys are much better at pulling newbies in and hams use the jargon to gate keep. I got into prepping by helping preppers get into ham radio for their needs. Other guys in the club thought we should not test them because they might be “militias”. So what if they were, ? yeah, kind down on the general ham attitude towards preparedness minded individuals.

To the point made that the DMR repeater will have your Callsign on their website, remember the “club” callsign option. You can get another Callsign if you and a buddy sign the form. You have formed your own club. use your real Callsign for normal ham and the other for stuff. Clean.
